African Independent Cat Association - 15 March 2010
Dear Exhibitor – current and potential.
There is no need to remind anyone of the current situation surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic, or the large variation in opinions, both scientific and personal regarding the correct approach to reduce the impact on South Africans. We are navigating uncharted waters and for now have to do the best we can with the current knowledge at hand.
AICA, SACATS, OSRBG, DCC, CCC & CLASA shows will be suspended with immediate effect for a provisional period of 4 months, until the end of June. There is no way of knowing if this is essential or if it will indeed contribute towards a potential reduction of risk for our exhibitors, officials and visitors to the show. It is, however better to be safe rather than sorry. We are following the lead of several other International Cat Organisations, like CFA, TICA, ANCATS, etc. A re-assessment will be done later, before a decision is made about the rest of the year’s shows.
Any show entry fees already received will be refunded. Commitments to share costs with other clubs will be honoured.
The Cat Fancy and -shows are our passion. Let us hope that this bold decision will assist in allowing us to enjoy our hobby to the fullest in the future, rather than support some short-term gain.
