Show 381 November 2015 and once again AICA pioneered a new concept - three Independent shows running at the same time, with cats moving from one judge to the next and on to the rings. It was a great success and an enjoyable event.
The show was associated with the OSRBG 21st show and we also celebrated a SACATS milestone - the 25th show. The event was dedicated to Jane Vermeulen, well loved judge, breeder, show manager and club president, who passed away a year ago. We had a record entry for this time of the year, of 120 cats from all three registering organisations in South Africa. 18 judges from SACC, CFSA and WCF had the opportunity to also exhibit their own cats in categories where they were not judging. The event has proven that our hobby is not slowly dying, as some of the pessimists say, but indeed is showing signs of growing. The show was an exercise in co-operation, were judging students from two organisations had the opportunity to see a variety of breeds, colours and patterns under the guidance of their own tutor judges. The wonderful support by the main sponsor, Royal Canin, made the show financially viable and added to the great experience where every exhibitor went home with a goodie bag full of gifts. The photographs bear evidence of the great prizes donated by Royal Canin, Kyron and Ancass. Many helpers ensured that the show ran smoothly and added to the relaxed and happy atmosphere. We had a large number of visitors, some of whom experienced a cat show for the first time. The many valuable lessons learnt will hopefully help to improve and expand the concept. |
